MANILA — Music veteran Gary Valenciano was among the hundreds of ABS-CBN employees who gathered Friday for a prayer movement amid challenges to the network’s broadcast franchise renewal.

“We’re all in this together,” Valenciano said as he took the stage and performed “Ililigtas Ka Niya.”

The faith-based tune is popularly known as one of the theme songs of “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano,” a primetime series of ABS-CBN.

“I didn’t know a theme song like this could apply to all of us standing here this evening,” Valenciano said.

Among those who attended the prayer rally were ABS-CBN President and CEO Carlo Katigbak, and Chief Operating Officer of Broadcast Cory Vidanes.

Both, along with other ABS-CBN executives, represented the network early this week at a Senate Public Services Committee hearing on compliance with its broadcast franchise.

Valenciano joined in praying for those involved in the process of the franchise renewal, and for the 11,000 employees of ABS-CBN whose jobs depend on the continued operations of the company.
