MANILA — “It’s Showtime” issued an apology on Thursday over a mistake in its luck-based game “PiLing Lucky,” and announced that it has decided to award an omitted jackpot prize to a contestant of the popular segment.
In a statement released after its live episode, the management of the ABS-CBN program said: “Madlang people, humihingi ng paumanhin ang ‘It’s Showtime’ dahil nagkaroon ng pagkakamali ang produksyon sa jackpot round ng ‘PiLing Lucky’ kanina.”
“Dahil dito, napagdesisyunan ng ‘Showtime’ management na ibigay sa ating player na si Ginalyn Canillo ang Negosyo Package,” it added.
In the jackpot round, Canillo was tasked to pick only one among two dozen paintings for a chance to win either the cash prize of P550,000, or the “negosyo” package.
Canillo’s chosen painting had the hidden label that awards her 5 kilos of rice.
The hosts then revealed the painting which came attached with the cash prize. The “negosyo” package, however, appeared to have been inadvertently excluded from the 24 paintings.
The choices were then partly checked by an auditing representative, before host Vice Ganda announced that an explanation would be given once the situation is sorted.
After a commercial break, “It’s Showtime” director Bobet Vidanes, accompanied by the representative from ABS-CBN Internal Audit, appeared on stage to announce that there had, in fact, been an error, and that Canillo will receive the missing prize.
