MANILA — Bea Alonzo is a “proud” Kapamilya, more than ever, after ABS-CBN executives faced the Senate in a six-hour hearing on its broadcast franchise, the actress said on Tuesday.
On Instagram, Alonzo shared a photo of ABS-CBN executives who addressed questions from lawmakers the day prior, including chairman Mark Lopez, president and CEO Carlo Katigbak, and COO of broadcast Cory Vidanes.
Katigbak, who responded to the bulk of queries from senators, became a top trend on social media on Monday, as viewers praised his calm demeanor and clear answers on a range of issues.
“They are not just our bosses. They are FAMILY. You made us proud today being a KAPAMILYA. Salamat po,” Alonzo captioned the photo.
The Senate hearing tackled several aspects of ABS-CBN’s compliance to its broadcast provisions, with numerous government agencies clearing the network of violations in terms of taxes, foreign involvement, pay-per-view offerings, and labor practices, among others.
It also touched on ABS-CBN’s airing of political ads during the 2016 elections, in light of President Rodrigo Duterte’s oft-repeated grievance against the network.
Alonzo, 32, has been a Kapamilya since 2002. She is one of the homegrown artists of Star Magic, ABS-CBN’s talent management arm, which earlier launched a campaign on social media in support of the network’s franchise renewal.
