MANILA – Albie Casiño admitted he is torn between continuing his showbiz career and pursuing his education abroad.

In an interview with the entertainment site Push, Casiño acknowledged that he won’t be in the entertainment industry forever and he is just being practical if he would choose to continue his studies.

“It’s for my future also. Hindi pa ako graduate ng college. Hindi naman forever itong showbiz. Hindi naman lahat ng tao nagiging Piolo Pascual na magiging career mo talaga yung showbiz. Every day may bagong artista, so hindi mo talaga alam. Tumatanda na ako, parang pakonti nang pakonti yung opportunities, so I just have to be practical,” he explained.

Casiño pointed out that he is also not a “showbiz person,” citing his tendency to keep things private.

“Kasi yung personality ko talaga hindi siya pang-showbiz, eh. Parang very private person, hindi ako masyadong magaling magsalita sa harapan ng maraming tao,” he said.

Nonetheless, Casiño said he loves the craft and he plans on finishing a course in relation to it.

“Naiisip ko hindi talaga para sa akin ang showbiz pero mahal ko yung ginagawa ko, ‘di ba? Gusto ko yung umaarte ako, so if ever I will stop and go to school, it will still be something connected to this, parang screenwriting, cinematography,” he said.

Despite his apprehensions, Casiño shared that his recent Gawad Tanglaw Best Actor award for his performance in “Maalaala Mo Kaya” is something that makes him feel validated as an actor.

“Medyo naumay rin kasi ako sa mga controversy, sa mga nangyari, pero ngayon na parang nanalo na ako ng award, pinag-iisipan ko na ulit kung ititigil na ito or hindi. Parang more of validation siya na hindi ko sinasayang ang oras ko dito, parang ganun,” he said.

Is he willing to do a project with Andi Eigenmann in the future?

“Work is work, ‘di ba? I need to put food on the table and stuff but if they ask, I’d rather not. I mean, parang ayokong maging weird sa set. I’m not saying that it’s weird but I’m not going to pretend that there’s no history or whatever,” he said.

Casino is Eigenmann’s former boyfriend.
