MANILA - After his successful pinning ceremony as a pilot last year, singer Ronnie Liang has added another feather in his cap.

On Friday, Liang graduated from military training at the Armor “Pambato” Division in Tarlac.

He took the Mechanized Infantry Operations Training (MIOT) course to further his knowledge about addressing conventional and external threats.

“Started this 2018 pa, pero wala akong sinabihan. I actually volunteered. I said na gusto kong maging parte siyempre to serve the country, to help the community, lalo na sa panahon ng pangangailangan. Remember Marawi siege? ‘Yun ang nagpagising sa akin na talagang kailangan natin magtulungan as a nation,” he said.

("Started this in 2018, but I did not tell anybody. I actually volunteered. I said that I want to be part of course to serve the country, to help the community, especially in times of need. Remember Marawi siege? That's what made me realize that we really need to help each other as a nation.")

Among the things he learned from his military training are battle drills, armored vehicle defensive driving, raid mission training, and lectures on enemy armored threats.

“Grabe ‘yung training. Such a humbling experience. 4 a.m. pa lang gumigising na. Super strict sa time and kilos. Dapat talagang mabilis ka kumilos, from eating your food to taking a bath,” he shared.

("The training was intense. Such a humbling experience. Wake up time is 4 a.m. They are super strict when it comes to time and movement. You really should move fast, from eating your food to taking a bath.")

“Sobrang ma-physical nung training. But at the end of the day, iisipin mo na malaki ang maitutulong nun sa character mo and pagmamahal mo sa bayan natin,” he added.

("It's a very physical training. But at the end of the day, you will realize that it's a big help for your character and for your love for our country.")

Liang earned the rank of second lieutenant after his graduation.
