MANILA - Jex de Castro is now in the same position he was in the last time he joined "Tawag ng Tanghalan."

He is now again one win away from the semifinals. On Friday, De Castro defeated challenger Marivi Delleva with his cover of the romantic ballad "You Are My Song."

He scored an average of 94 percent from the judges, while Delleva, who sang "Kunin Mo na ang Lahat sa Akin," got 92.6 percent.

De Castro will return on the "It's Showtime" stage on Saturday and hope that history doesn't repeat itself. Back in December, he had his 4-day win streak snapped which led to him narrowly missing out on a place in the next round.

A contestant will need five straight wins to secure an automatic semifinals berth.

A Viva Artist according to his Instagram profile, De Castro said he first joined "Tawag ng Tanghalan" to help pay for his younger brother's college tuition.

He decided to to try once more after getting more encouragement from fans and family.
