Julia Barretto and Joshua Garcia's "Love You to the Stars and Back" will be shown at this year's Osaka Asian Film Festival.
The flick, about a girl who believes in aliens and her journey to have herself abducted after her mother died, is among the four local films selected to "celebrate the 100 years of Philippine cinema."
The other three are Sigrid Andrea P. Bernardo's "Mr. and Mrs. Cruz," Mikhail Red's "Neomanila," and Giancarlo Abrahan's "Paki (Please, Care)." These 3 indie flicks are also in the running for the festival's top prize, against 12 other entries from across Asia.
"Love You to the Stars and Back," directed by Antoinette Jadaone, is the second movie to star Barretto opposite Garcia, who plays a cancer-stricken teen in it.
The Star Cinema movie grossed more than P100 million in the local box office in less than 3 weeks. This will be first time the film will be shown in Japan.
