Should you ask President Rodrigo Duterte about his advice for the youth, he'll probably warn you about the dangers of falling in love too soon.

That's exactly what he told teen actress Ysabel Ortega, who celebrated her 18th birthday Friday night.

Duterte took some time off his busy schedule and attended Ortega's party at the Sampaguita Gardens in Quezon City, and he had some solid advice for the teen --whose family of politicians, he said, he is close with-- when he delivered a short speech.

Ortega is the daughter of former senator Lito Lapid and singer Michelle Ortega.

"Alam mo, you are young, you are beautiful, and a simple woman. Do not hurry," he said to Ortega, suggesting that she should focus more on her studies so that she'll have something to lean on when her showbiz career doesn't go exactly as planned.

Saying that he'll be more frank, Duterte continued: "There's always time in this world. Time to be happy. Time to be sad. Time for victory. Time for defeat. Sa buhay mo, take it from me, do not be in a hurry to get emotionally involved. Hayaan mo muna silang to adore you --a lot of guys will. But do not fall into the trap.”

“Nakakasira talaga [ng buhay] iyan pa-in love, in love na iyan. ...Make yourself an exception."

Duterte added that the right guy will eventually come: "Always, destiny would find somebody for you. Just remain beautiful. Enjoy your beauty as it's a God-given gift and grow up to be a young beautiful woman and a good mother someday."

"Good luck. Happy birthday and may your beauty last for a thousand years."

In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Ortega said that she is grateful to the president for making time to attend her party.

"The fact that he made time for my birthday is grabe po. This is going to be a moment that I will remember talaga forever. Unforgettable po talaga and I'm really grateful," she said.

Among Ortega's celebrity friends in attendance were Michelle Vito, Jairus Aquino, Anjo Damiles, Kyline Alcantara, Ylona Garcia, Grae Fernandez, twins Joj and Jai Agpangan, Igiboy Flores, and Jimboy Martin.
