MANILA — A recent death scene in “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” took an emotional toll on the top-rating series’ cast and crew members, actress Yassi Pressman has revealed.
The particular scene involved the character of Ryza Cenon, Aubrey, who was killed during a shootout between Cardo’s (Coco Martin) Vendetta group and Baldo’s (Rommel Padilla) gang.
Aubrey had been the last living family member of Oscar (Rowell Santiago); the hunted president now struggles to find a reason to go on.
In an emotional scene last week, Oscar mourned Aubrey during the exchange of bullets. Belatedly seeing Aubrey’s fate, Cardo and the rest of the Vendetta members were overwhelmed with grief but had to keep fighting.
Cenon’s character was the latest fatality in “Ang Probinsyano’s” layered storyline over the last three years, and is unlikely to be the last to shed from Vendetta.
“As much as possible, ayaw sana naming isipin kasi para kaming nababawasan ng pamilya,” said Pressman, who plays Cardo’s wife Alyanna in the series.
Pressman was speaking with reporters on the sidelines of her recent contract signing, renewing her ties with ABS-CBN and by extension “Ang Probinsyano.”
“Ito nga pong pagkawala ni Aubrey, umiyak kaming lahat behind the scenes,” she revealed, explaining that the cast and crew have formed a close bond over the years, with their tapings held frequently in out-of-town locations.
Cenon’s exit from “Ang Probinsyano” coincides with the recent premiere of “The General’s Daughter,” another Dreamscape production where she plays one of the main characters.
Asked what fans can expect from “Ang Probinsyano” following its recent climactic developments, Pressman said: “Kakabawas lang po ng member ng Vendetta group, si Aubrey. Ngayon po, galit po ang ating presidente, gusto niyang maghiganti, kaya abangan natin kung ano ang gagawin ng grupo.”
