MANILA – Joshua Garcia does not agree with Julia Barretto’s idea of closure in a relationship.

In an earlier interview on “Tonight with Boy Abunda,” Barretto shared her personal view that “sometimes, not having any closure is closure already.”

“I don't know. Ako 'yun eh. Why are we going to have closure and tell each other what went wrong? Just ride the tide," she said.

When it was his turn to appear on the show, Garcia said he doesn’t agree with Barretto, emphasizing that closure is important for two people who once shared something special.

“Hindi closure 'yun,” he said. “Importante sa relasyon 'yung closure kasi doon maiintindihan ng isa’t isa na 'yun na 'yun, doon na ang end.”

“Dapat may malinaw kayong usapan para pagdating ng panahon, walang sisihan na mangyari. Halimbawa, magkabiruan, kasi normal 'yun sa magbabarkada na magkabiruan na, ‘Ito nang-iwan eh.’ 'Yung mga ganun na joke. Para alam namin sa isa’t isa na walang may kasalanan,” he explained further.

“Parang ang bastos naman nun sa karelasyon mo na hindi mo ibigay 'yung closure eh minahal mo rin naman 'yun ‘di ba?” he added.

Barretto was Garcia’s last girlfriend.

The two have said in the past that they chose to return to being "best friends" following their split, although it was difficult to deny how the breakup affected their relationship, given how rarely they were seen in public together after that.

However, Barretto made headlines earlier this month when she appeared to unfollow both Garcia and Janella Salvador on Instagram, just after the actor shared a sweet photo with his new leading lady.

Nonetheless, Garcia and Barretto have been busy going on mall tours and guesting on various shows together to promote their film “Block Z,” which opens Wednesday, January 29, in theaters nationwide.
