It took Xian Lim and Kim Chiu some time before going public with their relationship.

Although they never hid their affection for each other, it was only last November when Chiu admitted on national television that she and Lim are indeed a couple.

In an interview with entertainment reporters as seen in a video uploaded by PEP, Lim explained why they waited so long before letting everyone know the real status of their relationship.

“The reason naman kasi na we’re keeping it, medyo nakakatakot din. Alam na rin naman ng lahat pero maski alam ng lahat, at a very early stage, ang daling buwagin if maraming pumapasok, maraming comments,” he said.

Lim said many were not in favor of their relationship in the beginning, with some even saying he’s just using Chiu to promote his projects.

“Ang daming sinasabi na si Xian ganito kasi iyan, gusto lang maki-ride, or may show nagpo-promote. At one point, wala na rin naman kaming pino-promote. Dumating din kami sa point na ang dami na naming pinagdaanan and yet we are still together,” he said.

Now that they’ve gone public, does this mean they are confident nothing can rock their relationship anymore?

“Yeah lalo na ngayon na dumating na kami sa point na sabihin na natin sa buong mundo, marami naman na ring nakakaalam. May mga outside forces man, parang hindi na sila nakaapekto,” he said.
