MANILA – “It felt good.”

This was how Pops Fernandez described how she felt when she met Santino, Martin Nievera’s son with Katrina Ojeda, for the first time.

In an interview with entertainment site PEP, Fernandez said the brief encounter happened in Las Vegas in December when she fetched her sons Robin and Ram, who were both with Nievera at that time.

"Kasama niya [Martin] si kuya [Robin] at saka si Ram. Nag-guest si kuya sa show niya sa Vegas, I think. Tamang-tama, plinano ko talagang mag-Christmas sa States with my boys. So, nauna na ang mga bata tapos, ipinasa niya lang sa akin ang mga anak ko after. So, nagkita lang kami, less than a hour, I think,” she recalled.

Since it was the Christmas season, Fernandez said it was a good feeling to be with her whole family again even just for a short while.

“Well, for less than an hour, we were one big happy family and it was good. Kasama niya [Martin] rin ang kanyang anak, si Santino. First time I met him. Nice naman, even for a short while, nagkita-kita kami before Christmas and it was a good feeling,” she said.

Asked about her meeting with Santino, the singer said: “It’s okay. He’s a very cute kid. The feeling was... it felt good.”

"Parang ito 'yung kinakatakutan ko noong araw. Iyon pala, okay na. And I know that feelings are healed already. Lahat ng wounds na open noong araw, I know that it’s already closed. Again, it was a moment. It’s very short but it’s a nice moment,” she added.

Following their family “reunion,” some of their followers are curious whether it’s still possible for Fernandez and Nievera to reconcile.

Dismissing the thought with a laugh, Fernandez said: “Wala na. I think it’s because okay na kaming lahat. Kumbaga, it’s really a realization na Martin and I can really be good friends and we can live our lives. We’re happy and we’re individually on our own. Happy with our lives, ‘di ba?”

Fernandez also downplayed any possibility of marrying again in the future.

“Parang hindi ‘yan pinaplano,” she said. “Well, takot na ako siyempre. Now that I’m a little bit older and wiser, I would think wiser, sana I am. Siyempre iniisip mo na yung mga things that come with it. Mas mayroon lang akong, let’s say, things to watch out for. Not necessarily fear.”

Fernandez, however, said she will welcome the idea if it happens in the future.

“If it happens, I guess, it’s going to happen if you’re caught in that situation na someone asked and I think he’s someone that I can grow old with, I’m open naman,” she said.
