It's her first big movie without onscreen and real-life partner James Reid. And going by its first teaser, it's also going to be a whole lot different from what Nadine Lustre has done before.

From the same mind behind "Sid & Aya: Not a Love Story" -- one of 2018's surprise hits -- "Ulan" looks more akin to a horror flick rather than Lustre's past outings like "This Time" or "Never Not Love You."

In the first look released Wednesday, fans see a young girl trying to satisfy her curiosity over sunshowers. She is told that the reason why sometimes rain falls while the sun is still shining is because "may mga tikbalang na kinakasal."

The tikbalang is a half-horse, half-man creature from local folklore --and the beast of legend makes a surprising appearance by the end of the clip -- or at least a person dressed as one.

The overall eerie and mysterious vibe that surrounds the teaser fits the secrecy director Irene Villamor has managed to maintain over the plot of her newest movie, set to hit cinemas "soon."

Villamor has only previously said that the movie is about a young woman and the three kinds of romantic love she experiences.

The teaser also features very brief glimpses of Lustre's co-stars Carlo Aquino, Marco Gumabao and AJ Muhlach. No synopsis was given.
