MANILA (UPDATE) -- Meralco power rates are climbing by P0.15 per kilowatt-hour in September.&nbsp;This means the overall rate for a typical household will now be P11.7882/kWh, from last month&rsquo;s P11.6339/kWh.Meralco said this is because of a spike in the transmission charge due to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines&#39; (NGCP) ancillary service.&nbsp;This means electricity bills may jump by the following amounts:&nbsp;Consumption &nbsp; &nbsp;Increase200 kwh &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;P31300 kwh &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;P46400 kwh &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;P62500 kwh &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;P77&nbsp;In a statement, the power distributor said transmission charges for residential customers went up by P0.2913 because ancillary service charges rose after commercial operations of the reserve market resumed on August 5.&nbsp;Meralco said this more than offset the fall in the generation charge, which went down by P0.1547/kWh.&nbsp;Meralco rates rose in July by P2.15/kwh due to a higher generation charge.
