MANILA -- The Makati City government on Thursday launched its revamped domestic tourism campaign to encourage more local tourists to visit the commercial district and its heritage sites.

In a statement, the local government said the city’s sister cities and municipalities would enjoy up to 60 percent discount vouchers that could be redeemed “at selected partner-merchants, including hotels, bars, restaurants, and spas.”

Mayor Abby Binay added that the move aimed to highlight Makati’s social programs "that have gotten better over time.”

Aside from the discounts to local tourists from its sister cities and municipalities, free walking tours would also be made available.

This includes areas around the Central Business District, the Poblacion Heritage Sites, the St. Alphonsus Mary de Liguori Church – Garden Way of the Cross, and visit the famous Salcedo Market and Legazpi Market.
