MANILA (UPDATE) -- The yellow alert over the Luzon power grid has been lifted, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines said in an advisory released 1 p.m. Thursday.

The NGCP said the early lifting of the yellow alert, which was supposed to last from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. today, was due to the decrease in forecasted demand and the delay in the shutdown of another power plant.

A yellow alert is issued when the operating margin is insufficient to meet the transmission grid’s contingency requirement.
On Wednesday, the NGCP also issued a yellow alert after the San Gabriel plant in Batangas tripped, which caused power reserves to fall.
