MANILA -- Electricity costs may go up again in June, according to Meralco.

Meralco spokesman Joe Zaldarriaga said the more than P0.10/kwh increase due to ancillary services will kick in this month.

On top of this, an feed-in tariff of around P0.05/kwh will also be charged from customers.

And because the power grids were placed on red and yellow alert many times in the last 2 weeks of May, June rates may also go up because prices rise in the spot market, where Meralco gets a portion of its supply.

Electricity rates also rose in May because prices rose in the wholesale electricity spot market.
