MANILA -- Meralco has opened the bidding for 400 megawatts (MW) of baseload supply which it will need next year. 

The winner of the bidding will sign a 15-year power supply agreement with Meralco. The deal will start on August 26, 2025. 

Meralco said that power suppliers with natural gas fired power plants are highly encouraged to participate in the bidding and prioritize the use of indigenous natural gas.

The deadline for submission of expression of Interest is on July 1. The Pre-Bid Conference is set on July 11, while the bid submission deadline is on August 9.

Aside from this, Meralco is also looking for bidders for 600 megawatts (MW) of baseload supply that it needs for 2025.
