MANILA -- The Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Friday warned the public against scammers that pretend to be personnel from its office.

The LTO said there is a scam where some users receive text messages saying they have a traffic violation, with a link to what is supposedly the LTO website.

The LTO said the public should not click on the link, because it will always tell the user that they have traffic violations, regardless of whether or not the plate number they entered is real or fake.
