Employees in the private sector who are required to work during a regular holiday must be paid double their usual rate, the Department of Labor and Employment said Monday.
"'Yung regular holiday pag ikaw ay pumasok kailangan bayaran ng 200% ng basic salary pero mayroong kundisyon, dapat ngayong araw na ito ay pumasok ka o kaya ikaw ay naka-leave with pay," Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma said in a TeleRadyo Serbisyo interview.

Under Labor Advisory No. 05, employees who work on a regular holiday shall be paid 200 percent of the employee’s wage for that day for the first 8 hours.

Laguesma said labor contracts usually indicate that the employer will abide by labor standard provisions on holday pay, 13th month pay and overtime pay. "Maliban na lamang yung mga nagta-trabaho na nakasaad na ng eksakto yung halaga na dapat nilang tanggapin sa nakapaloob sa kanilang kontrata," he said.
