MANILA - The operator of the Mactan Cebu International Airport, GMR Megawide, said Tuesday it tapped the UK's SSP Group to design and operate the terminal's food and beverage units.

SSP Group operates in 125 airports, including Hong Kong, Heathrow in London and JFK in New York, the Mactan-Cebu International Airport said in a statement.

The deal covers terminals 1 and 2 of the airport. The contract will take effect upon the opening of terminal 2 in June 2018, according to the statement.

The Mactan-Cebu airport has received 7.4 million passengers as of the third quarter, and is targeting 10 million passengers by the end of the year.
