MANILA -- Picking his billionaire father Enrique Razon's "business mind," Katrina Razon said she succeeded in her many endeavors by learning from failure.

The 27-year-old venture capitalist and DJ regularly swaps Bloomberg and Forbes articles with the port and casino magnate. They also travel to South Africa to see wildlife.

"My Dad has always been the business mind that I’d love to pick the brains of," said the young Razon, who runs events company CC: Concepts and Los Angeles-based venture capital KSR.

"You just have to fail better because you learn more from your failure than your successes," she told ANC's Headstart.

Instead of dwelling on failure, entrepreneurs should take the next steps and be mindful not to make the same mistakes, she said.

The elder Razon, 58, heads International Container Terminal Services and Solaire mega-casino operator Bloomberry Resorts. He is the Philippines' fifth richest man with a net worth of $3.8 billion (P199 billion) according to Forbes Magazine.

Growing up in a "creative environment" inspired her to become a DJ, which helped expand her network, she said.

"I naturally have a lot of energy since childhood. What my parents did extremely well with my brother and I was raised us in an environment where our creativity would just run wild," she said.

She had started investing in startups early and made her first successful venture when she was in her early 20s.

"I define success by the amount of lives that are impacted and the amount of things that are positively changed," she added.

Asked if she would take over her father's down the road, the young Razon said she was "open to all possibilities in the future"
