CABUYAO, Laguna – E-commerce platform Lazada projected sales in this year 11.11 shopping festival to double compared to last year with enhanced operations and "innovative" product offering, its logistics head said Sunday.
Daily sales is also expected to increase up to 15 times on November 11, during its biggest sale event this year, Lazada Philippines CEO for Logistics Juan Pavez said during a media tour of its 54,000 sqm warehouse here.
The warehouse uses conveyor belts and automated sorting to speed up the process. Items can be delivered within the day in select areas, he said.
The platform owned by Jack Ma's Alibaba is also innovating by bringing new product categories, Pavez said.
Consumers can now buy cars online as Lazada partnered with the local distributor of the British luxury brand MINI.
Twenty limited edition MINI Monte Carlo cars are available exclusively on Lazada during the 11.11 shopping festival.
“We are always the first in the Philippines to do things. I do believe that online always start with simple categories like phones, but with time, new categories will emerge," Pavez told ABS-CBN.
"We are talking about online traveling, online sales of cars, we are talking about very different categories and we are always happy to explore and innovate,” he added.
Online shopping is the future of retail and bringing the British luxury car to Lazada could help reach a wider market, MINI Philippines marketing manager Mae Angelie Pacatang-Valdez told ABS-CBN News.
Lazada has also introduced LazMall earlier this year, offering 100 percent authentic products to protect consumers from "fake" goods.
Mother and baby products such as diapers, cosmetic items and electronics were the top selling items on the platform, Pavez said.
