MANILA - The economy likely expanded by 6.3 percent to 7.3 percent in the third quarter from a year earlier, boosted by the government's increased spending on infrastructure, the economic planning chief said on Thursday.

Socio-economic Planning Secretary Ernesto Pernia said third-quarter growth would also show the impact of weak exports and investments.

The government is scheduled to release gross domestic product data on Nov. 17.

The economy grew 7 percent in the April to June period, boosted by election spending. -- with ABS-CBN News
