MANILA – A tenth company on Wednesday bought documents for a chance to bid for the country's third telecommunications slot, as regulators prepared to name a "provisional" new carrier next week.
Those who bought the bid documents at the National Telecommunications Commission said they represented former congressman Felizardo Colambo's AMA Telecommunications.
Some local and foreign firms, including China Telecom have also bought bid documents.
Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Officer-in-Charge Eliseo Rio earlier said the "provisional" carrier that would challenge PLDT Inc and Globe Telecom could be named as early as November.
