MANILA - A man put up a lawn chair and camped out in front of the newest Jollibee store in Canada for the right to be its first customer when the store opens on Friday.

The Jollibee store in Edmonton, capital of Canada's Alberta province, isn't scheduled to open until 7 a.m. (Canadian time) Aug. 16, but that didn't deter the man from claiming his spot at the head of the expected queue.

Filipino fans of the fast food chain said they were surprised that a caucasian man beat them to the front of the line.

The fast food chain is offering various promos for the opening of its latest store in North America.

"The first 50 people in line who purchase $25 or more will get enough Jolly Crispy Chicken for the whole year!" Jollibee Canada said on its Facebook page.

The first 50 customers to arrive with their most creative #ItsOurTurn signs will get a special Jollibee Funko Pop, while the first 300 customers will receive a free Jollibee Plush doll with a purchase of $25 or more, Jollibee Canada said.

Jollibee has 2 other stores in Canada: one in Winnipeg, Manitoba and another in Mississauga, Ontario.
