MANILA – San Miguel Corp said Monday it planned to add 10,000 megawatts in renewable energy capacity to its portfolio.
Power unit SMC Global Power Holdings Corp will set up the projects in the next 10 years, San Miguel told the stock exchange, confirming a newspaper report.
San Miguel president Ramon Ang was quoted saying over the weekend that San Miguel was "going to invest heavily on renewable energy."
Ang said SMC would invest in hydro-electric, wind, battery storage and tidal power, but not solar due to its low generation. -- with a report by Michelle Ong, ABS-CBN News
