MANILA - The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has expressed support for the Duterte administration's 10-point economic agenda.

The bank said it will work closely with the Philippine government in helping institute a more progressive tax system, increase competitiveness, and accelerate infrastructure development, among others.

The bank also said it is ready to provide more assistance to the country in the coming years, including increasing its non-sovereign operations like loans and guarantees to the private sector.

The statement comes after ADB president Takehiko Nakao met with President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday.

Nakao had commended Duterte's efforts to speed up public service, cut red tape, and respect the contracts of the previous administration.
