MANILA - PLDT and Smart unveiled their new logos on Monday.

PLDT and Smart’s logos appear similar, except for the color. PLDT’s is red, while Smart’s logo is green.

They are shaped like a triangle, which supposedly represents the company’s business pillars: exceptional people, meaningful innovations, and valuable customers.

PLDT said the new logo symbolizes the convergence of PLDT and Smart, combining fixed and wireless technologies to serve customers.

The new logos came after PLDT acquired access to the 700 mhz frequency, which is expected to boost the telco’s internet speed.

PLDT Chairman Manny Pangilinan said PLDT and Smart are moving their offices to Alabang, and this will cost the group 10 billion pesos.

Pangilinan said they may have to add 4 to 5 billion pesos to the 43 billion pesos earmarked for capital expenditure this year.

Also in today’s PLDT event, members of the Eraserheads reunited and sang some of their hit singles to the audience’s delight.

Among the songs they sang were Pop Machine, With a Smile, Torpedo, and Huling El Bimbo.
