MANILA - Jeepney operators who have modernized their fleets are seeking fare increases to offset the cost of meeting new standards set by government, a transport official said.

The jeepney operators also asked for a "Rush Hour Rate" which will require a P1 and P2 increment for non-air-conditioned and air-conditioned units, respectively, during peak hours.

The LTFRB will hear the fare increase petitions with the National Economic and Development Authority to help assess the potential social impact of an adjustment, Lizada said.
