MANILA - Several dams in Central Luzon were damaged by Monday's strong earthquake, the National Irrigation Administration said on Tuesday.

Most of the dams in the Region 3 were safe, but 5 facilities in 3 provinces were damaged and needed immediate repairs, NIA said.

The Cong. Dadong Dam in Arayat, Pampanga showed cracks, with repairs estimated to cost P20 million.

The Mangindong Dam in Dinalupihan, Bataan had cracks on a footbridge with repairs estimated at P10 million.

Also damaged in Bataan was the Balsik Dam in the town of Hermosa, where a portion of the main canal collapsed. Repairs to the dam will cost P5 million.

In Zambales, NIA also reported cracks on a portion of the Bucao Intake facility in the town of Bucao. Cracks were also noted on the retaining walls of a diversion dam in Brgy. San Pablo in the town of Castillejos. Repairs to the 2 facilities will cost P15 million, NIA said.
