MANILA -- Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines do not have in their fleet a Boeing jet model that figured in two recent crashes, their spokespersons told ABS-CBN News.

An Ethiopian Air Boeing 737 MAX 8 bound for Kenya crashed on Sunday, killing all 157 on board. The same model aircraft operated by Lion Air crashed shortly after takeoff in Jakarta last October, killing 189.

"We have no Boeing aircraft, and certainly no 737 in the Cebu Pacific fleet," Cebu Pacific spokesperson Charo Logarta said.

"We do not have such type of aircraft on our fleet," Philippine Airlines spokesperson Cielo Villaluna said.

China's aviation regulator said Monday it had ordered Chinese airlines to suspend their Boeing 737 MAX aircraft operations by 6 p.m.

Cayman Airways has grounded both of its new 737 MAX 8 jets until more information was received, the Caribbean airline said in a statement on its website.

Singapore Airlines Ltd, whose regional arm SilkAir operates the 737 MAX, said it was monitoring the situation closely, but its planes continued to operate as scheduled.

Indonesia said it would continue to monitor its airlines operating the 737 MAX, which include Lion Air and Garuda Indonesia but it did not mention any plan to ground the planes.
