MANILA - The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas on Thursday warned the public against social media accounts that pretend to be the official accounts of the BSP.

The BSP made the warning after a picture of supposedly new banknote designs began circulating online after being posted by a fake central bank Facebook page.

The central bank noted that "the images and information on Philippine currency posted in the account are false as they clearly inconsistent with the features of genuine Philippine banknotes."

The BSP said it has already talked to Facebook to take down the fake account.
