Eight teams from various cities of Metro Manila were in contention in the first "Search for the Barangay Tapal King" basketball games hosted by Bostik Super Vulcaseal.

Participants had to prove they exemplified grit and great skills to clinch the "The Tapal King" and "The Tapal King’s Team" titles.

The basketball team from Barangay 848 in the City of Manila emerged as the winner of "The Tapal King’s Team" title. The winning team brought home P50,000.

The team from Barangay Masambong in Quezon City snatched 2nd runner-up spot with a P20,000 cash prize and the squad from Barangay Magtanggol in Pateros secured the 3rd runner-up place, bringing home P10,000.

All winning teams and individual brought home special gift packs.

Among the other participating teams are from Barangay Batis in San Juan City, Barangay Tambo in Parañaque City, Barangay Panghulo in Malabon City, and Barangay San Antonio in Quezon City.

Going nationwide

Interested teams need to train their tapal (blocking) and shooting skills even more as the search for the next "Tapal King" goes nationwide.

This 2019, Bostik extended the competition to nationwide – Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

The competition is part of Bostik's vision as a company that highlights the strong and resilient mindset of Filipinos -- the durable attitudes needed to withstand life's hardest seasons.

For decades, Bostik Super Vulcaseal has been the partner of Filipino families in maintaining tip-top roof for every weather condition.
