Immortalized in William Shakespeare's writings as the ''windows to your soul,'' the eyes are often said to allow other people to glimpse a person's innermost thoughts and dreams. The eyes speak of countless emotions even when no words are spoken or no visible cues are given. It is also one of the five human senses that helps one navigate life.

However, how much importance do you really give your eyes?

As much as health has risen in priority and consciousness over the past two years, proper care of the eyes must not be neglected. When not properly cared for, daily exposure to eye irritants can cause discomfort to our daily life.

Some of the common environmental irritants include:
● Dust
● Smoke
● Air pollutants (e.g carbon monoxide, ozone, particulate matter, sulfur dioxide)

Habitually, some cannot help but touch their eyes especially when it feels irritated or when a foreign matter has entered them. However, due to the current health situation, the Department of Health (DOH) advised people against touching their eyes, nose, and mouth as these are potential entry points for the infectious virus going around.

Moreover, according to an ophthalmologist, rubbing your eyes can result in a scratch in the cornea or misdirect the eyelashes and cause it to continually poke the cornea with every blink. It can also cause some virus and bacteria to enter the body through hand-to-eye transmission.

So what can you do when faced with environmental irritants? How can you avoid scratching and potentially damaging your eyes?

Instead of habitually rubbing them, you can use eye drops that can clean your eyes and relieve itchiness from dirt and pollutants. Eye Mo, has developed a solution called Eye Mo Daily Care Formula that is intended to gently relieve itchiness and wash away irritants. It may also be used to soothe eyes after removal of contact lenses

The bottle is also easy to carry - you can place it in your bag or pocket so you can use it wherever you go.
