Everyone deserves a second chance – whether in love or in life.

People may sometimes be negligent of their health while abundantly being able to enjoy the pleasures of life. When it comes to our health, it is never too late to make things right.

Binge eating on high cholesterol, high sodium, and high-fat food, excessive alcohol consumption, and other unhealthy living patterns may later lead to chronic diseases. One of which may be liver-related diseases. Not only can severe liver disease cause extensive medical procedures, but it may also be life-threatening. So, before you experience the severe outcome of your unhealthy living habits, it is time to consciously take care of your body.

In the Philippines alone, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), from January 2021 to October 2022, liver disease is among the top 14 causes of deaths in the country.

Contrary to common knowledge, alcoholics or those with substance abuse are not the only ones at risk of liver disease. People who are obese can also suffer the same fate, which is classified as Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease.

When the liver malfunctions, it affects the entire body. Our liver is responsible for breaking down our food, cleansing our body from medication, and removing all toxins from the disinfectant we inhale or the chemicals we intake.

The liver is the body’s powerhouse, with over 500 different functions which is why your body is only as strong as your liver.

Our liver is vital to our existence, so we need to help ensure that our livers are in top shape. Here are practical practices and simple lifestyle changes which may save us the trouble of having to go through extensive medical treatments:

● Eat the right food with the right amount. One way of avoiding non-alcohol-related fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is by maintaining a healthy weight.

● Exercise: Shake it and get moving. Health associations recommend doing a minimum of 2 and a half hours of moderate aerobic activity or cardio for at least 2 days in a week. Moderate activity is anything that gets our heart beat faster. When done properly, we should feel a little out of breath and a bit warmer.

● Control alcohol consumption. It is not just those who fall down drunk that are at risk of getting liver cirrhosis. In fact, two ounces a day of hard liquor for women and four for men can also scar our liver significantly. It is best to consult a physician to know how much alcohol our body can take or if we should practically consider quitting alcohol.

● Steer clear of toxins. Make it a habit to read labels on the chemicals we use, as toxins can potentially harm our liver and our health. Common chemicals that may cause liver damage include the dry cleaning solvent carbon tetrachloride, certain chemicals that are used to make plastics such as vinyl chloride, the herbicide paraquat and a group of industrial chemicals called polychlorinated biphenyls.

● Wash produce. Always keep in mind that our fresh vegetables and fruit intakes are from farms that may possibly use pesticides for their produce. So, before consuming them, make sure to wash them thoroughly as a health protocol at home.

If symptoms started to manifest in our body, without dilly-dallying, immediately consult a doctor.

More importantly, consider taking a supplement that may help regenerate, restore, and strengthen our liver.

with proper diet and exercise/healthy lifestyle

(Phospholipids) Essentiale Forte P may help support the regeneration of injured liver cells owing to the essential phospholipids that are the active substance of the supplement.

Each hard gelatin capsule contains 300 mg of de-oiled enriched phospholipids from soya beans and other ingredients that may help in reducing the symptoms of liver injury, along with proper diet and daily activities.

The supplement helps accelerate the regeneration and stabilization of cell membranes, inhibits lipid peroxidation, and collagen synthesis, which prevents liver fibrosis, with proper diet and exercise.

Take action today and be liver conscious to enjoy a long and healthy life with your loved ones.
