The opening of the Southeast Asian Games on Saturday had a nostalgic touch to it with the inclusion of 8 Filipino sporting legends.
The group includes 1996 Olympic silver medalist boxer Mansueto "Onyok" Velasco, many-time billiards world champion Efren "Bata" Reyes, Asian Games basketball silver medalist Alvin Patrimonio, Asian sprint queen Lydia de Vega, world bowling Hall of Famers Olivia "Bong" Coo and Rafael "Paeng" Nepomuceno, and multiple SEA Games gold-medal winners Eric Buhain and Akiko Thomson.
They were tasked with carrying and presenting the SEA Games Federation flag.
