MANILA -- The sister of the late senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago, Len Defensor, thanked her sister's family, doctors, staff, and supporters who stood by the lawmaker until her death last Thursday.

At the funeral mass on Sunday, Defensor also thanked God for creating "the one and the only Miriam Defensor-Santiago."

Santiago died in her sleep on September 28 at the age of 71. She was buried beside her son Alexander, at the Loyola Memorial Park in Marikina on Sunday.
