President Rodrigo Duterte on Friday said his police chief, Director General Ronald 'Bato' dela Rosa, is upstaging him in being "mayabang (boastful)."

"Alam mo si Bato, nauunahan na ako sa yabang...Iyan ang style ko e," he said in jest before military personnel in Davao City. "Sinunod na nga niya, pati tuloy ako hindi na makasalida, limitado na ang papel ko."

He, however, said that Dela Rosa, his wedding godson, has his full support.

"He is simply loyal to the Republic of the Philippines, not to me... You nurture the love for the country and then you are ready to die for it," he said.

He reiterated that his war on drugs will remain relentless, and he takes full responsibility for the consequences of the campaign. -- ANC Live Events, August 26, 2016
