Duterte on use of gutter language: Anak lang kasi ako ng mahirap

Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday defended his use of gutter language.

The tough-talking mayor was his usual self when he faced a more formal setting – a luncheon prepared by the Makati Business Club.

Duterte told business leaders that it has become his habit to use expletives to convey his feelings, adding he likes to ''call a spade a spade''.

''I might be somewhat sa salita ko, pero anak lang kasi ako ng mahirap, laki ako ng squatters area, and that's how we talk at things. Eh sana kung pinatira ako sa Forbes Park maski sandali, baka gumana pa itong bunganga ko,'' he said.

''The presidency, if I don’t deserve it, don’t kid yourself, vote for somebody else. Huwag ako."

Duterte was earlier criticized for cursing Pope Francis back in November last year. He also created a firestorm when he joked about the rape and killing of a female Australian missionary.
