MANILA - Tanauan Mayor Antonio Halili of Batangas was shot dead during Monday's flag raising ceremony in his city, a video shared to ABS-CBN News showed.

Police said an unidentified gunman shot Halili in the chest. The mayor was declared dead on arrival at the CP Reyes Medical Center, according to Calabarzon police director Chief Supt. Edward Carranza.

Halili first gained notoriety after he made suspected drug criminals take a "Walk of Shame" around the city in 2016.
