President-elect Rodrigo Duterte on Monday vowed that his government will exist to uplift the weak.

"My government is for the helpless, for the hopeless, and for the defenseless. Those are the words of my father, I just borrowed it," Duterte said during a flag-raising ceremony in Davao City.

Duterte, whose father was the last governor of the undivided Davao region, also promised that his administration will be clean of corruption, even at the topmost ranks.

"Kung secretary ka sa Gabinete tapos nangurakot ka, I will just have to whisper, 'Please go,'" he said.

"I am hell-bent on stopping corruption, ayaw ko talaga. Iyan ang tandaan ninyo because you will never get any help from me kung may mga kaso kayong ganoon," he also told public officials.

Duterte will be sworn into office Thursday, June 30.
