Lawmakers grilled Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) officials on why they postponed the implementation of the rule requiring distributors to hold competitive bidding when procuring power supply to April 30, 2016 from the original date of November 6, 2015.
Lawmakers grilled Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) officials on why they postponed the implementation of the rule requiring distributors to hold competitive bidding when procuring power supply to April 30, 2016 from the original date of November 6, 2015.
The rule was meant to reduce the power generation charge passed on to consumers. Because of the deadline extension, seven sister companies of Meralco were able to enter into supply agreements with the distributor.
