Many netizens on Friday went to social media to express their anger and disgust at the clandestine burial of former President Ferdinand Marcos at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.
Marcos was discreetly buried at the heroes' cemetery on Friday noon, just over a week after the Supreme Court allowed it.
After the news broke, the hashtags #MarcosNOTaHero and #OccupyLNMB immediately began trending on Twitter.
"Marcos Burial" was also mentioned in at least 18,300 tweets by angry netizens.
Some academic communities expressed their solidarity over social media.
Personalities such as award-winning writer Butch Dalisay and former presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte also chimed in.
Aika Robredo, daughter of Vice President Leni Robredo, also shared photos of Martial Law victims to support the stand that the late strongman was not a hero.
