MANILA - A 23-year old Japanese man has captured the attention of social media users on Facebook and Twitter after photos of him selling rice omelette or omurice in Japanese, goes viral.

Known as Kuya Omurice on his Facebook page, the college student, who is taking a socio-political course, teaches math in a grammar school back in Japan.

Kuya Omurice sells his omelets by announcing his location for the day on his Facebook page. He usually brings the food to the location in an ice bucket. Yesterday, he sold out his products at the North Avenue MRT Station, while earlier today he was at Aurora Boulevard, Cubao.

He opened his Facebook page last June 16 to promote his home-cooked rice delicacies and as of yesterday, it had about 7,000 likes. With his photos going viral, the number of followers on his page has increased to at least 34,500 in less than 24 hours.

Despite his newfound popularity, Kuya has yet to earn from selling his delicacies, as most of his capital has been spent in buying the necessary ingredients and equipment for making his rice omelettes.
