MANILA -- Howls of laughter filled the stadium as FlipTop star Sinio boasts about what he intends to do to his opponent Shehyee's girlfriend, model Ann Mateo.

The audience, composed mostly of men, cheered Sinio for his rhyming insults and vicious attacks.

"Okay lang naman kung titirahin ko si Ann, 'di ba? Kasi hindi naman bago sa 'yo kung titirahin siya ng iba," Sinio exclaimed, drawing loud cheers from the crowd.

"Paano ba naging sexy 'yon kung binababoy ng iba? Pinagpalit ang puri para sa papuri nila? Oo, may maganda siyang image pero ang laswa ng imahe niya. Maganda nga siyang modelo pero hindi siya magandang modelo para sa iba," he added.

"Sana kapag nagka-anak ka, maging babae, tapos kay Ann magmana. Ewan ko lang kung maging proud ka pa pagdating ng panahon na sabihin sa 'yo ng anak mo na: 'Papa, pangarap ko pong maging katulad ni Mama, p*ta.'"

The original YouTube video has already garnered over 6.2 million views less than five days after it was uploaded on February 2.

Mother cries foul

While this seemed entertaining for some, it was apparently unacceptable to Mateo's mom, who is reportedly planning to take legal action against Sinio, or Joseph Martin Cagasan in real life.

But what made the battle more controversial was when Sinio's fan started attacking Shehyee, accusing him of pushing his girlfriend's mother to take legal action. This, after Sinio's controversial post: "Demandahan na ang gusto 😞 yari na 😞 mahirap lang po kami 😞."

Shehyee immediately took to Facebook on Friday to clarify that it is Mateo's mom who wants to file a case and not him.

"Mother ni Ann yung nagmessage kay Sinio na gusto niyang mag-file ng case against him, hindi ako. Sinabi din naman ni Sinio yun, hindi ba kayo marunong magbasa? Bakit ako ang pinapalabas niyo na gusto mag demanda? Ha?," he wrote.

Shehyee, however, added that he could not question the decision of Mateo's mom since it is her right as a parent.

"Hindi ko gusto mangyari 'yan, nagulat din ako," he wrote. "Ang tanging magagawa ko ay tulungan si Sinio na ipaliwanag sa mother ni Ann ang mga bagay-bagay. Kung ituloy man ng mother ni Ann ang kanyang balak, karapatan niya na ang magdesisyon."

Sinio, meanwhile, also posted on Facebook on Friday to clarify the issue, clearing Shehyee and Mateo.

"Ok lang nmn naiintindihan ko nanay ni madam anne eh, di nmn natin mapapaliwanag ung format or takbuhan ng fliptop sakanya , saka syempre magulang natural lang na dedepensahan nya ang anak nya," he wrote, unedited.

Shehyee's post has already garnered over 14,000 shares as of this writing, while Sinio's post got over 12,500 shares.

Fliptop Battle League

The Sinio versus Shehyee match was facilitated by Fliptop Battle League, the largest group of fliptop artists in the Philippines.

In their website, they claim to bring "entertaining, smooth and cleverly insulting lyrics from a range of rap artists in a multilingual league."

In the past years, they have staged hundreds of fliptop battles in different parts of the country. Videos of the matches are uploaded on their official website and YouTube channel, garnering millions of views.

Meanwhile, after exchanging insults and curses, Sinio was declared the winner by a unanimous 5-0 vote.

"Binoto ko si Sinio in all three rounds. Lumabas 'yong A game ni Sinio doon. 'Yong presenya ni Sinio napakalakas, 'yong rebuttals niya pasok na pasok. Lahat ng sinabi niya, kada rhyme, sumusuntok. Kaya mas angat talaga si Sinio," one of the judges said.

Sinio and Shehyee shook hands. But Shehyee left with this comment: "Lagot ka sa tatay ni Ann."

And what does Mateo think about the whole episode?
