The driver and operator of a bus that figured in a viral video are in hot water.

The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has ordered the driver and operator of Rainbow Express Bus with plate number TXF 713 to explain why their franchise should not be cancelled.

This was after the bus was caught on video counterflowing along Regalado Avenue in Quezon City.

Even after meeting another vehicle head on, the bus driver insisted on continuing to counterflow instead of moving to the correct lane.

A standoff ensued for several minutes until a policeman, and then an MMDA traffic enforcer arrived at the scene.

It was only then that the bus tried to maneuver back into the proper lane. But in doing so, it almost hit another vehicle.

Kirstoff Guinto, who shot the video and was the driver of the vehicle in the stand-off, said that he was dismayed with the attitude of the bus driver.

"Iyun ang kinalungkot ko. Pag ganun kasi eh magso-sorry ka na lang di ba? Hindi eh. Ang ginawa nya, tiningnan lang niya ako, galit pa," said Guinto.

(That's what saddens me. In a situation like that, shouldn't you just say sorry? But no. He just stared at me angrily.)

The video has since gone viral and now has more than 2 million views on Facebook.

ABS-CBN News visited the garage of Rainbow Express Bus in Fairview to get the bus company's side of the story. But apparently, Rainbow Express no longer holds office in the address noted by the LTFRB.

Atty. Aileen Lizada of the LTFRB said that they will summon the driver of the bus and the operator of Rainbow Express to a hearing.

"We may recommend the suspension or cancellation of the driver's license with the LTO," said Lizada.

A check with the LTO's "May Huli Ba?" website showed that the Rainbow Express bus in the viral video already has 11 violations.
