MANILA, Philippines – Ginebra legend Robert Jaworski made a rare appearance in the PBA on Wednesday, as the Gin Kings were playing in the biggest game of the year.

The beloved "Jawo," one of the greatest players in the history of the PBA and arguably the most beloved, watched as the Gin Kings closed out the Meralco Bolts in Game 6 of the 2016 PBA Governors' Cup Finals in front of a packed crowd at the Araneta Coliseum.

At first it appeared that the Bolts were on their way to forcing a Game 7. They led by double-digits after the first period and were still ahead, 45-32, at the halftime break.

Jaworski, however, was not about to let the Gin Kings go down without a fight and so he gave the team a pep talk at halftime.

"I said that they were very tentative," said Jaworski. "(I told them) If you had beaten them three times, you can beat them again."

"Tonight is their night. Don't think of any other day," he stressed.

The Gin Kings did not let Jaworski down. Showing the "never say die" spirit that Jawo himself embodied, Ginebra slowly clawed their way back into the game. LA Tenorio did the heavy lifting offensively in the third period, but in crunch time, it was import Justin Brownlee who saved the day.

With 5.5 seconds left and the game tied at 88, Brownlee pulled up for a deep triple that hit the bottom of the net just as the buzzer sounded, sending majority of the 22,000-strong crowd into a frenzy. The 91-88 victory ended Ginebra's eight-year title drought.

"That's one for the books," said Jaworski, who soaked in the celebrations for a few minutes before leaving.

"I said it was going to be a nice game," he added. "But in fairness, there was no loser in this game. Both of them won, because of their decorum and their grit in doing their best for the public."

There can only be bigger and brighter things down the line for the Gin Kings now, says Jaworski.

"As long as they don't change their attitude, their positive attitude, they have a bright future," he said.
