MANILA, Philippines – Jayson Castro was named the PBA Press Corps Player of the Week for the third time in the Governors' Cup after he led the TNT KaTropa to the No. 1 seed in the conference.

Nicknamed "The Blur," the 5-foot-8 Castro is the first player to win the weekly citation three times in the season-ending conference.

Castro powered TNT to a 104-92 victory over Barangay Ginebra last Sunday in Biñan, Laguna, scoring 19 points to go along with 10 assists and four rebounds.

He has registered 10 or more assists four times already this conference, and averages 7.91 assists, the top mark in the league.

Thanks in part to Castro's tremendous efforts, the KaTropa finished the elimination round of the Governors' Cup with a 10-1 record, installing them as the favorites for the playoffs set to start this week.

They will have a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals as well. TNT will play either Rain or Shine or Phoenix, which will dispute the eighth and last berth in the playoffs on Wednesday.

Castro edged Alaska's Sonny Thoss and Calvin Abueva, Rain or Shine guard Paul Lee and forward Beau Belga, San Miguel stars June Mar Fajardo and Arwind Santos, and TNT teammate Larry Fonacier for the weekly honor.
