MANILA, Philippines – Ricci Rivero's dramatic offseason took another turn on Thursday, when the athletic guard announced his exit from De La Salle University.

"All good things come to an end. Thank You to the La Sallian community for the support you've given me. The

Rivero's management team, Virtual Playground, confirmed to ABS-CBN News that this was Rivero's formal farewell to the university and to the De La Salle Green Archers.

It is just the latest chapter of what has been a difficult offseason for Rivero.

After helping La Salle reach the Finals of UAAP Season 80 – wherein he earned Mythical Team honors – Rivero was shockingly cut from the squad in January together with older brother Prince and little-used reserve Brent Paraiso.

The school said Rivero's suspension from the team was due to his endorsement deals, which is in conflict with a team rule. However, there were rumors that Rivero, his brother, and Paraiso had also broken university rules – specifically, that they had failed drug tests.

Rivero and Paraiso vehemently denied these rumors in a series of emotional statements last month.

Rivero has yet to decide on where he will transfer, according to his management team, but has drawn interest from several schools.

In his sophomore season, Rivero averaged 14.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.7 steals for the Green Archers, while establishing himself as a rising star thanks to his superb athleticism.
